who are we?

My name is Kerrie and I am a fully qualified professional celebrant, holding the highest recognised qualification in the country (NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Couples and Naming RQF).

Heart Life and Soul Ceremonies was created out of personal experience of my husband and I planning our own ceremony. We wanted a ceremony on the beach, where all our evening guests were able to witness us taking our vows. We wanted to make very personal vows to each other, which were not dictated to from others and we wanted to be able to include our close family and friends within the ceremony, through unity candles, readings and music, reflecting the joining of not only us, but our larger family and friends unit.

We were able to enjoy the music at the time we desired and we even had a prayer to reflect on the loved ones around us going through a tough time. None of this could have happened though the ‘normal channels’. We did our legal bit earlier in the day with our closest family and friends before enjoying the sunset on the beach, having our very special blessing with ALL our family and friends, in a place that truly touches our souls.

Through years of public speaking and event management I wanted to now use my skills and passion, to help others celebrate what should be the happiest moments of their lives. Creating ceremonies to reflect the now! No longer do we have to follow the rule book, one size does not fit all. Family units are made of many different compartments, including mixed religious beliefs, step children/parents, adoptive family, and much more. Why should we not be allowed to celebrate that just how we choose to, incorporating all the elements of your life?

our location

We are very fortunate to be based in the beautiful county of Cornwall, which is not only full of captivating coastline and stunning scenery, it is steeped in history and nostalgia. You only have to take a trip around the 300 miles of Cornish coast path, to stumble across an endless array of breathtaking, and meaningful locations to suit your perfect ceremony. Here is a quick trip around the coast path to help get those creative thoughts flowing, on the perfect location, starting in the north we have:

  • Tintagal, where it is said that King Author had his Camelot.
  • We then stumble into the beautiful location of Port Issac, where the current series of Doc Martin is filmed.
  • Before coming across the charming harbour of Padstow famously known for Rick Stein and his culinary delicacies.
  • Heading down the coast, we reach the more modern sea side resorts, where the surf and the soul are at a high priority in everyday life.
  • Around the corner we find romantic ruins of mines, which are now more known as Poldark country, for those of you that are fans of the current series.
  • Beyond we reach St Ives, which is an artist’s paradise.
  • Lands ends and the Minack Theatre greet us with a back drop that you could be excused for thinking was out of a fairy tale.
  • Head around the corner and be greeted by the tidal island of St Michaels Mount
  • Before you are then spoiled by pretty fishing villages such as Mevagissey and Polperro, both of which are tightly-packed with fisherman’s houses which have survived almost untouched.
  • Start to head inland and you are welcomed not only by places such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan full of mystery and desire, but a few miles down the road the fabulous Eden Project with its bio domes and spectacular gardens.

The list can go on and on, I am sure you already know in your heart which one you would choose, in a county full of hidden treasures.

why choose an independent celebrant?

The ceremony is the most important part of your special day. For you and your loved ones, it is the opportunity to make personal promises to each other, about your hopes and dreams for the future. Why should you compromise on such an important life event?

As a independent celebrant we have complete freedom to create a ceremony that reflects you and your personal style and wishes. Unlike a local authority registrar we do not have rules and legislation to work too, allowing us to build you a ceremony around your life story.

Once you have completed the legal side of your marriage, we are on hand to  create the ceremony of your dreams, anytime, any content, anywhere. The only limitation is your imagination.
